Saira Sadat : first female district governor in Afghanisthan
Saira Shakeeb Sadat was selected as the first female district governor in Afghanistan last month. According to Saira, "she's trying to bring more prosperity to an isolated area in northern Jowzjan province, home to five thousand families.
She has been selected as the “Aqcha” district leader of Jawzjan province through a competitive process of the administrative reforms commission. After graduating in1985 she worked as a teacher in schools. Later she worked in Afghan foreign ministry and the ministry of state for Parliamentarian affairs. She also nominated herself for parliamentarian election once, but lost the elections.
