Park Geun-Hye, has been sworn in as the South Korea's first female president. She is the daughter of former military ruler of South Korea Park Chung-He who ruled the country for 18 years after a military coup but was later assassinated. As South Korea's first-ever woman president, she will lead the country that is ranked below the likes of Surinam and the United Arab Emirates in gender equality but ranked Asia's fourth largest economy. She faces significant challenges, including a nuclearised North Korea, a slowing economy and soaring welfare costs in one of the world's most rapidly ageing societies.
