India, in PM recent visit to Thailand in furtherance of its "look-east policy" , finally achieved breakthrough with signing of long pending extradition treaty.
The treaty, which took 20 long years to fruition, provides the legal framework for seeking extradition of fugitive offenders, including those involved in terrorism, transnational crimes and economic offenses.

Other Achievements:

  • A treaty was ratified on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons, enabling both sides to swap prisoners after they have served their prison terms.
  • The two sides signed seven agreements, including cooperation in space technology and education,and improving of defense and cultural ties.
  • A Memorandum of Understanding between India's Financial Intelligence Unit and Thailand's Anti Money Laundering Organisation on cooperation in the exchange of intelligence related to money laundering and terrorism financing was also signed.
