India's first semi-high speed train (SHST) Gatimaan Express was flagged off by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on Tuesday. The train will run between Hazrat Nizammuddin and Agra Cantonment and cover the 200 km distance between the two stations in 100 minutes.

It is faster than Shatabdi Express which takes 117 minutes between two destinations. It should be noted that although it has a top speed of 160 km an hour but it is still half that of trains in China, Japan, France and other countries.
