Bulgarian government resigns amid protests

Nationwide protests against high electricity prices forced the Bulgaria's government to resign which joins a long list of European administrations felling due to austerity measures taken by them to fight economic recession. Eventhough the Prime Minister Boiko Borisov sacked his finance minister, pledged to cut power prices and punish foreign-owned companies, the protests continued leading to fall of government. Unhappy over high energy costs, power monopolies, low living standards and corruption in the European Union's poorest country, people took to streets clashing with police. The parliamentary election are scheduled for July .
