  • Gandhian Philosophy and Public Service Broadcasting award 2014 goes to Radio Kashmir Jammu.  
    • It clinches the prestigious prize for its programme Jeevan Rekha - a live broadcasts on the rescue operations carried out in the state during the recent massive floods.
    • It was instituted to commemorate the sole visit of Mahatma Gandhi to the Studios of AIR (New Delhi) on 12 November 1947.
    • The award is presented annually to the best programmes produced on 'Gandhian Philosophy and Public Services Programmes' by AIR & Doordarshan.
  • World’s Largest Gfrg (Glass Fibre Reinforced Gypsum) Panel - “Gypwall” - unveiled at the India International Trade Fair 2014.   
    • The panel is manufactured by FACT-RCF Building Products Limited - a joint venture of Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Limited (Kochi) and Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilisers Limited (PSU) under Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilisers ministry.
  • Indira Gandhi official language awards distributed.  
    • The honour, a language shield and certificates, is awarded to public bodies who have excelled in the promotion of Hindi across various categories.
    • Various offices promoting Hindi and individuals who have authored original literature and works of writing in Hindi on the occasion of 'Hindi Divas' on September 14 every year.
    • The delay in presentation of award is commonplace and the government want to set that right as it prepare to declare these awards in future on Hindi Diwas (September 14) itself.
  • President gives 'Children Awards 2013' on Children’s day.  
    • The awards were given in two categories; 1). 'Rajiv Gandhi Manav Seva Award' to individuals – and 'National Award for Child Welfare' to institutions and individuals. 
    • The first one gives recognition to children (4-15 years) with exceptional abilities in fields such as academics, culture, arts, sports, music etc.  
    • The award comprises a silver medal, certificate, and a cheque of Rs. 10,000.
    • The second award were given to individual/institutions for their outstanding performance in the field of child development and child welfare. 
    • It comprises cash prize of Rs. 30,000 to institutions and Rs. 1,00,000 to individuals.
  • Indian Army Chief  'General Dalbir Singh' is honoured with the honorary rank of 'General of Nepal Army' by Nepalese president Ram Baran Yadav.  
    • Its very common for the two nations to confer such honorary titles on each other’s army chiefs.
