  • Manchester City is crowned English Premier League champion with a 2-0 victory over West Ham.  
    • This is their second title in last three seasons.
  • South Sudan President Salva Kiir and rebel army leader Riek Machar inks a peace agreement in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa.  
    • The pact calls for immediate ceasefire, formation of a transitional government ahead of the drafting of a new constitution and new elections.
    • The civil war broke out when President Kiir dismissed Vice President, Machar, accusing him of plotting a coup. Since then, Machar is leading a rebel army named South Sudan Democrativ Movement/ Army (SSDM) Cobra faction to overthrow the government.
    • The conflict has left thousands dead and nearly five million people displaced.
  • Rafael Nadal secures his fourth Madrid Open men's singles title after a hip injury forced his opponent Kei Nishikori out midway through the final match.  
    • This is his fourth Madrid Open crown.
    • Maria Sharapova defeated Simona Halep 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 to win the women's title.
  • A documentary film, Silent Screams – India’s Fight Against Rape clinches three awards at the 2014 New York Festivals International TV and Film Awards.   

    The awards are 

    • Gold World Medal for 'Best Investigative Report'.
    • Two Bronze Gold Medals each in the Current Affairs and Human Concerns sections respectively.

    The film directed by Pria Somiah is about politics of rape in India.

  • Caparo Group, founded by leading NRI industrialist Lord Swraj Paul, has captured the International Business of the Year award 2014 at the Asian Business Awards.
