  • India-China 10-day anti-terror joint exercise "Hand in Hand 2013" begins at Chengdu, China. This joint training exercise between the two countries is the 3rd in the series which started in 2007. The first was held at Kuming, China  in December 2007 while the second was held at Belgaum, India in Nov 2008. - read more cat
  • Russia's Soyuz TMA-11M spacecraft carrying the Olympic torch for the 2014 Winter Games alongwith a three-man international crew launched into space.
  • Emomali Rahmon re-elected the president of Tajikistan. He, candidate of the People's Democratic Party, has been ruling Tajikistan for 21 years. Rahmon has been elected with 83.6 percent (3.23 million) of the total valid votes to his fourth consecutive term in office.
  • Government launches a national portal on Maulana Abul Kalam Azad on his 125th birth anniversary. He, India's first education minister, was an eminent scholar and senior leader of the Independence Movement.
  • Government allows Collective Landing Permit for Group tourists at specific airports and seaports. The facility, however, will not be available to the nationals of Afghanistan, China, Ethiopia, Iraq, Iran, Nigeria, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and foreign nationals of Pakistani origin.
