  • Bashar Al-assad registers a landslide victory in Syrian Presidential election; gets another 7 year term as head of conflict-ridden country.  
    • He polled 88.7 per cent as against 4.3 per cent and 3.2 percent of his two challengers Hassan al-Nouri and Maher Hajjar respectively.
    • Syria is marred by a bloody 3-year-old uprising against his rule that has devastated the country.

    • The laboratory has been serving aquaculture industry of the country by providing timely and reliable diagnosis of various diseases encountered during the culture of finfish, shrimps and freshwater prawns.
