  • The Union Cabinet clears the Telangana Bill with Hyderabad as the joint capital for Telangana and Seemandhra for initial 10 years. 
    • The bill, which was sent back by the Andhra Pradesh Legislature, got the Cabinet approval at a special meeting.
    • The bill will now soon be tabled in both the houses of Parliament before its sent for the President's assent.

    • The 3-member Indian contingent Shiva Keshwan, Himanshu Thakur and Nadeem Ikbal will sadly compete as independent athletes as IOA (Indian Olympic Association) is facing suspension from the Olympics.
    • Around 2500 athletes from around the globe will take part in 98 disciplines in the games.
