  • World's largest and tallest 'Indian flag' is unfurled at Town Park in Faridabad, Haryana. 
    • The mammoth Tricolor has a dimension of 96 feet by 64 feet and weighs 48 kilograms.
    • Its only fitting that the organizers created another benchmark by hosting it at a record height of 250 feet (75 meters) - the tallest ever for it.
    • It was hoisted by the BJP president Amit Shah in presence of state CM ML Khattar and other guests.

  • 3 South Asian women to be honoured by US with prestigious International Women of Courage Award 2015. 

     

    They are: 

    • Captain Niloofar Rahmani from Afghanistan Air Force
    • Nadia Sharmeen - Journalist and women’s rights activist from Bangladesh.
    • Tabassum Adnan - founder of Khwendo Jirga from Pakistan
    • In total, the prize this year has gone to 10 women from 10 countries.
    • Established in 2007, the global Prize recognize women for their exceptional contribution in the field of peace, justice, human rights and gender equality.
    • Till date, 86 women from 50 different countries have recieved this recognition.
    • Indian recipients - Delhi gang rape (2013) victim 'Nirbhaya' and 'Laxmi' - an acid attack victim (2014).

    • A technical committee is being constituted - having academic and industry experts - to plan and design course structure for basics and advance culinary studies.

    • The award - presented by National Institute of Gender Justice - recognize contributions in the field of promoting the Safety, Security and Protection of Women and Girl Child.
